Sep 2026 · SCIENCE TIME · Vol 4, pp. 12-14 · 0 citations

Abstract

The lexico-semantic and functional aspects of the category of plesionymy in modern English will be examined in this study. The research focuses on the linguistic nature of plesionymic relations, their semantic characteristics, and their role in the organization of lexical meaning. Primary attention is given to the relationship between plesionymy nd other semantic categories, as well as to the contextualand functional factors that influencethe use and interpretation of plesionymic units. The study analyzes the ways in which closely related lexical items can express similar, but not completely identical, meanings and how these differences contribute to effective communication. The research also considers functioning of plesionymic relations in different linguistic contexts and their significance for lexical semantics, discourse and language use. The findings may contribute to a deeper understanding of semantic relations in the English lexicon and provide a theoretical basis for further research into lexical synonymy and related semantic phenomena.
