The article examines the methodological potential of native (Tatar) language lessons as a key tool for the formation of reading literacy in schoolchildren in the context of the modern educational paradigm. The specificity of Tatar texts transforms the language learning process from a linguistic task into a tool for developing critical thinking. Tatar language lessons are presented not just as a means of preserving identity, but as a platform for training universal skills of meaningful reading. The author analyzes the typical difficulties encountered by schoolchildren when working with complex artistic and journalistic texts, and suggests specific pedagogical techniques: from stopping at semantic parts to genre transformation and analysis of creolized texts. It is concluded that systematic work on functional literacy in Tatar language lessons contributes not only to academic success, but also to the formation of an integrated linguistic personality capable of navigating the global information space while preserving its cultural identity.
