Abstract

This research was motivated by the low academic performance of fourth-grade students in Biodiversity topics at SDN 021 Sungai Kunjang. This issue presumably stems from the overreliance on traditional teaching methods and the lack of engaging learning media. Therefore, this study aims to describe the effect of utilizing the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model combined with interactive video on students' learning outcomes. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a Nonequivalent Control Group Design was employed. The study involved two groups: class IV A as the experimental class (26 students) and class IV C as the control class (27 students). Data collection was conducted using pre-tests and post-tests, which were further analyzed through the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, Levene's homogeneity test, N-Gain score calculation, and Independent Sample t-Test via IBM SPSS Statistics 27. The results indicated that the data were normally distributed and had homogeneous variances. The mean score of the experimental cohort increased significantly from 62.42 to 88.92, while the control group only shifted from 62.44 to 75.22. The superiority of this intervention is demonstrated by the experimental group's N-Gain score of 0.71 (high category), compared to the control group's score of 0.34 (moderate category). Hypothesis testing revealed a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of <0.0001, indicating that is rejected and is accepted. Additionally, the effect size measured via Cohen's d reached 1.403 (large category). Based on these findings, it can be concluded that merging the CTL model with interactive videos exerts a massive and significant positive impact on elementary school students' learning outcomes in biodiversity.
