Abstract
The bond‐associated quadrature point formulation is a very accurate peridynamic formulation for elasticity, but modeling fracture by the traditional deletion of bonds can trigger severe numerical instabilities. These instabilities are most pronounced for wave‐induced fracture, where stress waves continue to propagate through already damaged material. This contribution applies the recently introduced phase‐field peridynamics framework to overcome this limitation. Because the energetic contribution of each bond is degraded continuously through a bond phase‐field parameter instead of deleting bonds, the formulation stays stable under fracture, while a separate kinematic degradation enables fragmentation and localized cracks. The framework is demonstrated on the wave‐induced fracture of a curved bar, where the bond‐associated formulation with bond deletion becomes unstable while the phase‐field peridynamics formulation remains robust and reproduces a classical phase‐field reference solution.
A rotation‐free finite‐strain phase‐field‐regularized elastoplastic damage formulation is presented for the tensile failure simulation of polypropylene (PP). The bulk response is represented by a hyperelastic–isotropic–plastic material branch formulated in a corotated intermediate configuration. Damage evolution is r...

Thin‐shell structures subjected to cyclic loading exhibit strong coupling among in‐plane and out‐of‐plane deformation modes, which renders fatigue life assessment particularly challenging. Existing peridynamic (PD) fatigue formulations predominantly account for fatigue damage driven by axial bond deformation and are...

Fracture mechanics is essential for predicting the failure of materials and structures. The Phase-Field Fracture (PFF) method has emerged as a powerful computational tool, overcoming the limitations of classical discrete approaches by modeling cracks as diffuse damage bands. This formulation eliminates the need for exp...
Yield point phenomena in metals, anticracks in soils and snows, or planewise collapses in lattice metamaterials, are different manifestations of plastic instabilities characterized by stress softening and strain localization. Several independent constitutive descriptions exist and suffer from similar challenges: experi...
Understanding dynamic fracture in both brittle and ductile materials has attracted considerable attention from engineers and researchers due to its practical importance. In ductile materials, crack initiation and growth are strongly influenced by plastic deformation and the associated microstructural damage, which grad...
