THE EDUCATIONAL POTENTIAL OF ANIMATED FILM IN HUMANITIES CLASSES AT SECONDARY SCHOOL

2026 · Science in School · Vol 2 · 0 citations

Abstract

The article criticizes the underestimated role of animation in humanitarian education, and considers animation as a subtle pedagogical tool that promotes dialogue, research, and critical reflection, rather than just as a form of entertainment. Using the principles of the theory of the zone of proximal development and narrative models, as well as the results of the author’s pedagogical experiment (2024-2025 with the participation of 120 students in grades 7-9), it explores how animated content can contribute to understanding complex topics such as war, identity, and justice, while maintaining a safe distance for teenagers, allowing them to interact with potentially controversial topics. Ultimately, the article presents animation as a catalyst for enriching educational practices, allowing for more humane and emotionally intense learning situations that challenge traditional didactic methods.
