THE GREEN ECONOMY IN THE AGRICULTURE OF THE EURASIAN ECONOMIC UNION MEMBER STATES: A QUANTITATIVE ASSESSMENT OF DETERMINANTS AND THEIR CONTRIBUTION TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

Based on panel data for the EAEU member states for 2015-2025, the determinants of the green economy in agriculture were quantitatively assessed using regression modeling. It has been found that a decrease in the carbon intensity of production by 1 t of CO2 equivalent/1000 USD of added value increases the integrated sustainability index of the agro-industrial complex by 0.053 points, while an increase in subsidies for green agricultural technologies by 100 USD/ha raises it by 0.047 points. The largest contribution to the index's growth for 2021-2025 was made by technological reductions in carbon intensity (36%) and subsidies (28%). A significant differentiation of the EAEU member states in the level of agricultural sustainability has been identified.
