TL;DR

In vivo evaluation in an MRSA-infected diabetic foot wound model demonstrated accelerated wound closure and superior healing outcomes for both SB1 and SB2 compared with fusidic acid (Fucidin®) by day 12, suggesting that silybin-loaded CS–Gel hydrogels represent a promising therapeutic platform for the management of MRSA-infected diabetic foot infections.

Dual-Drug Chitosan Hydrogel Loaded with Metformin and Cefazolin for Antibacterial, Anti-Inflammatory and Antioxidant Treatment of Drug-Resistant Bacteria-Infected Skin Wounds

Bacterial-infected skin wounds, especially those caused by drug-resistant pathogens accompanied by persistent inflammation, remain a major clinical therapeutic challenge. Rising antimicrobial resistance compromises the therapeutic effect of conventional single-agent antibiotics, creating an urgent demand for novel woun...

A pH and Glucose Dual-Responsive Injectable Chitosan/ε-Polylysine Hydrogel with Inherent Antibacterial and Antioxidant Activities for Diabetic Wound Healing

Diabetic wounds reside in a sustained hyperglycemic microenvironment, inducing excessive reactive oxygen species accumulation and bacterial infection, which prolongs the inflammatory phase and hinders wound healing. To address this issue, we constructed a dual-responsive hydrogel dressing composed of tannic acid (TA)...

Formulation, physicochemical characterization, and antimicrobial evaluation of drug-loaded essential oil microemulsions against Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus -associated diabetic foot ulcer infections

Diabetes Mellitus, a leading endocrine disorder characterized by persistent hyperglycemia, ischemia, and neuropathy, causes ulcerative wounds that are often colonized by multidrug-resistant pathogens, such as Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), which exacerbate wound infections and can lead to compl...

Injectable plant vesicles-biomineralized ZnO2 hydrogel for synergistic chemodynamic antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and regenerative treatment of infected diabetic wounds.

Chronic diabetic wounds are characterized by persistent bacterial infection, biofilm formation, and dysregulated inflammation, which impair angiogenesis and delay healing. In this work, we developed a multifunctional injectable hydrogel (ZE-OSG) that integrates ZnO2-based chemodynamic therapy (CDT) with the bioactivity...
